Pro bono award nomination

We are proud to announce that Ern Phang received a nomination for the 2009 Law Society President's Award.

The Law Society President's Award is presented to an individual solicitor for pro bono work through the Law Society Pro Bono scheme. The scheme aims to increase access to justice by accepting applications from disadvantaged people and referring them to solicitors prepared to act on a pro bono basis.

"It's an honour to be recognised by the Law Society for this work, even though I consider pro bono services to be the responsibility for every practitioner to the community. Although the Law Society Pro Bono scheme is only one part of our overall service to the community, it's an important part as it reaches people and organisations who belong to social circles that are well beyond my personal network or the networks that exist within our practice and associates. I have worked very hard to create a culture of community service within Phang Legal, and our support for pro bono legal services will only grow with time as our practice continues to grow."

About Ern Phang

Ern Phang is the solicitor director of Parramatta law firm, Phang Legal. Ern practises in the areas of property and commercial transactions, corporate compliance, and is an experienced company director and company secretary. Ern has extensive experience in civil litigation (ie, commercial and insurance claims, debt recovery and general disputes) and various forms of dispute resolution. Ern is also a notary public.

Ern has and continues to act for a variety of business (domestic and international), government departments and the military, and not-for-profit community/religious organisations - as well as individuals and their families. Ern is passionate about the local community, and enjoys being in local business involved with and supporting local organisations and local people.
