Notary public services for Medical Certificates to other countries
As an experienced notary public, we are often approached by clients wanting to notarise their medical certificates for use in countries around the Middle East.
While each case can differ, sometimes the notarised documents are sent directly to the intended destination country and other times, our clients must go through the process of notarisation, authentication by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and legalisation by the relevant foreign office (which can sometimes be in Canberra).
As part of the process for notarising medical certificates for the Middle East, we generally contact the issuing doctor to verify the information provided in the certificate – which also means that the verification and subsequent notarisation process can take a little longer than normal. If you are fortunate, and the doctor or the relevant medical centre are readily available this requirement can be completed while you wait. But if not, we will provide you with an indication of processing time and contact you once we have been able to verify and notarise the medical certificates.
To obtain visas or work permits to some Middle Eastern countries, clients have been asked to provide a medical certificate with verification of the issuing doctor against the records held by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA).
AHPRA regulate health practitioners such as:
- Podiatry, and
If you need a notarial certificate confirming the details of the health practitioner and the medical certificate, the relevant foreign office should be able to provide you with a ‘template’ in order for us to prepare that notarial certificate to the satisfaction of your visa or work permit requirements.
Understanding the various requirements at every stage will reduce the risk of unexpected delays in the processing of your medical certificate at all stages. If you do not know or you are unsure, please check with the relevant foreign office or your counterpart in the intended destination country to confirm (in writing if at all possible) the requirements for notarisation, authentication and legalisation or apostille. Proceeding in an incorrect manner may not only waste the cost of the process, but can substantially delay the completion of the process.
