The dire warning to COVID-affected jobseekers who turn down ‘suitable work’

What’s considered suitable can change when there’s a need (desperate need) to work. But is there a need when there are government benefits?

Nothing wrong with mutual obligations, is there? Everyone knows that times are hard (it’s hard for everyone). Government benefits offer a safety net for people who genuinely look but can’t find work, but it shouldn’t be the reason for people to not work or not even look for work. Sadly, there can be a disincentive, lack of motivation or a complacency when the desire to work is less than the need to work and there is no need to work.
Jobless Australians in all states but Victoria have been told to start looking for work, with severe consequences for anyone not taking up an offer.
