Chief Justice turns ‘vlogger’ as he welcomes new lawyers on YouTube

When mobile phones first started incorporating cameras, we had to surrender our mobile phones to the sheriffs when we passed through security before going into court – there were concerns that the cameras could be used to take photos or videos in the courtroom. So much has changed since then.
NSW Chief Justice Tom Bathurst noted the wide-reaching effects of the pandemic on the legal profession, including the rapid shift to remote hearings, and joked that, in online courts, dining tables were “the new bar tables” and family dogs the new “court security”.
