The study of human behaviour is interesting, the only problem is that we have a ‘short’ memory. It’s not the first time that we (as a species) have experienced a pandemic, but it’s probably the first time that anyone alive today has experienced it with the last pandemic being a century ago. Is it really possible to learn things from previous generations? When the world faced the Spanish Flu in 1918-20, did they also buy more alcohol? Did they stock up on toilet paper?
Lockdowns sparked by the coronavirus pandemic caused Australians over the course of 2020 to spend more on booze and entertainment than any year in the last decade.
