What’s wrong with perks and pensions for politicians? If we can justify giving government benefits for unemployment, we should be able to justify perks and pensions to those who work and contribute to society.

Public office is tough career path. Politicians endure the loss of personal privacy, constant public scrutiny and personal attacks. On the other hand, the keyboard warriors comment with relative anonymity from the internet shadows, when they themselves are incapable, unqualified and would never be popular enough to stand or be elected to hold office.
Outgoing NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian will score pension-for-life after she exits politics and she could opt to take the money in a $2 million lump sum.
