Will Awareness Day 2013

The dangers of ‘home-made’ Wills

On 16 August 2013, the Law Society of NSW will launch Will Awareness Day 2013. The theme of Will Awareness Day this year is “How much does a home-made will really cost?”

Home-made Wills or Do-It-Yourself Will kits are commonly available from newsagents or post offices, however the Law Society wants to focus on whether the home-made Will or the Do-It-Yourself Will Kits are really helping people save money (because they may be cheaper than going to see a lawyer to help you prepare your Will) or whether they actually cost more in the long term because of the problems that can arise from not following the formal requirements of a Will or from poor drafting that Will.
